CRCT Testing April 14-23

4/10/10 - During the week of April 14th to 23rd, all 1st through 8th graders are required by the state of Georgia to participate in the 2010 Criterion Referenced Competency Test. School in session Friday March 12

3/9/10 - School will be in session Friday March 12 to make up for the power outage day. Fulton bus service will not be available, but lunch service will be.

Show-Up for Hands On Amana event on 3/13

3/9/10 - Do you have the "It's my Amana" mindset? It means "It's my Responsibility", hence the school's guiding principle of stewardship that comes from our nameplate. One way you and other parents can demonstrate this attitude is by helping the school at this Saturday's Hands On Amana event. The school is partnering up with the PTA to complete two Hands On projects: (1) paint a classroom, and (2) tidy and organize an equipment storage room. All you need to do is show up between 9:00 - 11:00 AM ready to work; and we provide refreshments and supplies! We call it Hands On Amana; and we thank Ms. Donna Roy and the PTA for coordinating this effort.

Parent Survey through March 14th

3/9/10 - One in four Amana parents has completed the teacher and school surveys. The survey was sent out to parents last week from Ehab Jaleel. If you did not receive the survey, please email survey@amanaacademy.org. Also, please don't forget to fill out the Fulton Schools survey.

School Opening Delayed Two Hours

3/3/10 - Due to potentially icy road conditions in the early morning, the Fulton County School System - including Amana Academy - will delay its start for students and staff by two hours on Wednesday, March 3. School will open for middle school students at 9:45 A.M. and for elementary school students at 10:00 A.M. Staff members should arrive prior to school opening as appropriate.

New Drop-off Procedures Coming 2/22

2/15/10 - On Monday February 22nd, you will notice changes to our morning drop-off procedures that will enhance safety and improve efficiency. Please familiarize yourself with this PDF document to better understand the changes. Start times for Elementary (8:00 A.M.) and Middle (7:45 A.M.) schools will remain unchanged.

Cafe Conversations Feb 23

2/15/10 - One of our priorities is to improve two-way communication with parents...to share plans while gaining better insight into your expectations. To that end, please join Executive Director Ehab Jaleel on Tuesday February 23rd at 8:00 A.M. in the cafeteria for the first in a series called "Cafe Conversations". The topic for this first conversation will be about rising 5th graders going into Middle School.

Special Board Roundtable Meeting

2/1/10 - Please come to the special Board Roundtable Meeting this Saturday February 6 from 9-11am at Amana. The board needs your feedback on two topics: (1) Enrollment plans for 2010/2011 including class size, classes for each grade, and how to handle single gender classes in grades 4 and up, and (2) The formation of a Fund Development Committee and the actions that the school is taking to expand our revenue sources.
